Description
No. 10 on St John Street is an 18th-century brick house that is well-proportioned and features two storeys plus an attic. The building has five windows with sashes set in plain reveals, and the right-hand bays do not have glazing bars. A prominent central entrance is accessed by a flight of fourteen steps and is adorned with a moulded architrave, entablature, and a curved pediment. The ground floor windows have keystones, and there is a string course at the first floor level. The building also has quoins and a moulded cornice, all made of painted stone. A single central dormer with a moulded curved pediment sits atop the hipped roof, which is covered in old tiles. No. 10 is part of a group that includes St John's Court (the former Council Offices), the Church of St John's, the Lych Gate, and No. 14.
