Description
The chapel, located about 80 yards north of Bell Hall, is a disused building dating from around 1200, with alterations made in the 17th century. It is constructed from coursed sandstone rubble and features a plain tiled roof with gable-end parapets. The chapel has a rectangular three-bay plan that originally included opposing doorways. It is designed in the Norman style and has buttresses at the west end. Each side wall contains two round-headed splayed lights, and there is a blocked round-headed doorway on the north wall. The south doorway features a round head with a moulded archivolt, although the tympanum is missing and the inner arch has been reconstructed later. The studded door is likely from the 17th century. Both end walls have a 3-light 17th-century splayed mullioned window. The interior has not been inspected but is recorded as having a simple rafter roof with purlins, and it is noted that the fittings have been removed.
