Description
This barn, located approximately 30 metres south-west of the gatehouse at Rushall Hall, dates back to around 1700. It is constructed from limestone rubble with some brick dressings and features a slate roof. The south wall includes a porch at the main entrance, which is now partly blocked. To the right, there is a wide entrance with a timber lintel, and to the left, a doorway with a pitching doorway above it. The left gable has brick coping. The roof covering is missing from the two right-hand bays due to a fire. The north wall has a projection that appears to be a blocked canopy for a cart entrance. Inside, the visible trusses have tie-beams resting on wall-plates, raking struts, and king-posts with high straight braces to the principals. The central bay features straight wind-braces. This barn is part of a group of buildings on the site of the medieval village of Rushall.
