Description

These mirrored houses, numbers 3 and 4 Victoria Terrace, were built in the early 1850s by Henry Farrington. They are a notable example of a planned development and were originally named Hatherton Lake Villas. The houses are constructed of brick with painted stone and stucco dressings, and have a hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves supported by brackets. Each house has three bays, with chamfered quoins on the ground floor. They feature timber canted bay windows on the ground floor, and 8-pane sash windows with architraves, sill bands, and cornices on console brackets to the first floor. The doors, situated in the middle bay of each house, have round-headed surrounds under Ionic porches with pilaster responds. Chimneys are located between the houses and on the end walls.
