Description
The railway bridge at Chance's Glassworks, located approximately 160 meters west of Spon Lane South, is a mid-19th century structure made of brick and iron, with some sandstone dressings. The north side features a cast iron I-beam that spans the bridge. The parapet includes stone coping and octagonal end piers, along with iron railings. The deck of the bridge is supported by wrought iron or steel joists that carry brick arches. The south side of the bridge is now blocked. This bridge adjoins the Canal Bridge and spans a roadway that used to connect the northern and southern sections of Chance's Glassworks. The Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Stour Valley Railway, which opened in 1852, had its first locomotive running on the line in 1849.
