Description
The office, workshops, and stores block at the former New Hawne Colliery was built around 1895. It is a continuous range of buildings that flank the road, constructed from red brick. The office section has three windows and is two stories high, while the stores section features three windows, all of which have semi-circular heads made of yellow brick and small-paned cast iron windows, though these windows are currently lacking glass and are generally damaged. There are three doorways with segmental heads and ledged doors. The stone above one of the doorways is inscribed with "S Garratt and Son" along with the date. The roof is covered with slates, some of which have been stripped away by vandals. The building is disused and in a generally dilapidated condition. It is included for its group value with the winding engine house, fan house, and chimney at the former New Hawne Colliery.
