Description
The Trocadero and Albert Chambers is a mid-19th century building that underwent alterations in the late 19th century. The ground floor features yellow tiles with some green and brown decorative elements, while the upper storeys are finished in stucco. The building stands three storeys tall and is divided into three bays, with the outer two bays projecting forward and adorned with prominently cut quoins on either side.
The ground floor includes plasterwork that supports an entablature featuring a mosaic frieze with the words 'Trocadero', garlands, and 'Albert Chambers', topped by a dentilled cornice. Within this decorative framework is a modern front, which includes an original wide arched entrance on the left, flanked by columns with stained glass windows above, and a subsidiary entrance to the chambers on the right.
The first and second floors each have four windows. The first-floor windows are topped with a moulded cornice, while the second-floor windows feature moulded sills and large blocks above the center two. All window sashes are fitted with glazing bars. The building is capped with a heavily bracketed moulded eaves cornice. Inside, there are only minimal remnants of decoration from around 1900.
