Description

The West Terrace Glasshouse, located in the Botanical Gardens in Edgbaston, dates back to 1865. It features a symmetrical design with a central semi-circular pediment that has two tiers of radiating arches, complete with glazing bars and doors beneath a cornice. On either side of this central feature are lower glasshouses that have long pitched roofs arranged in two steps, running parallel to the terrace. The glasshouses are supported by arched glazing bars set on a brick moulded plinth. Inside, the roofs are constructed of timber and are supported by iron brackets with circular spandrels.
