Description
St Philip's House, located at 17 Westbourne Road in Edgbaston, dates from around 1830 and has been altered over time. The building is constructed of stucco and features a slate roof. It is two storeys high and has four bays. The entrance is a panelled door situated in the end bay, which is sheltered by a porch supported by coupled Tuscan columns that carry an entablature. The three remaining bays are symmetrical, featuring a central shouldered window with splayed feet that sits on a plinth, flanked by two-storey canted bay windows that are horizontally rusticated on the ground floor. There are stringcourses, with the upper one supporting the first-floor windows, and a bracketed eaves cornice. The left-hand return of the house includes a bow window. Additionally, there are extensive outbuildings, mostly from the later 19th century, which include a prominent hipped roofed lantern facing Harborne Road.
