Description
The covered dock at Rotton Park Loop Canal maintenance yard is a building from around 1845. It is constructed of red brick in both Flemish bond and Flemish stretcher bond styles. The roof is hipped and originally slate, but it has been reclad in asbestos tiles, featuring brick dentil eaves. This long rectangular single-storey building spans over a canal dock, with the entrance to the canal located at the east end, which has a wide canal entrance fitted with a later plank door. At the west end, there are plank double doors on the right and a window on the left. An attached Superintendent's Office is located on the south side. The interior has not been inspected. Rotton Park Loop was initially part of James Brindley's Birmingham Canal from 1768 and was improved by Thomas Telford around 1828.
