Description

The bandstand in Cannon Hill Park, built around 1880-1890, is a public structure featuring an octagonal brick platform. It has a boarded canopy supported by slender, turned, and fluted cast iron columns. These columns are adorned with decorated pierced work brackets that rise from the capitals to the eaves, connected by fretted linking girders. The bandstand is topped with a swept conical roof, which is crowned by a lantern cupola. This cupola includes scrolled pierced work panels, a small ogee spirelet, and a ball finial with a delicate weather vane.
