Description
This is an 1840s red brick villa with stucco dressings, located on Bristol Road in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The house is designed in a Gothic style and features three bays. A wider, projecting bay to the right is emphasized by a gable with ornate cut bargeboards and a finial. The roof is slate, with overhanging eaves and red brick chimneys. The windows are mullion-transom casements set within broad, splayed stucco reveals with dripmoulds. A red brick porch has a stepped stucco gable. Building No. 229 is positioned to balance a similar building, No. 231, which has a projecting bay on its left.
