Description
Nos 30, 32, and 34 on Vittoria Street in Hockley, built in 1866, are three-storey painted brick buildings that originally served as a jewellery works. The structure features six bays, with the two bays on the left likely used for a showroom, office, and possibly residential purposes. The ground floor has round-headed windows and doorways, which are adorned with linked stucco impost blocks and keystones. The upper floors have segmental arched workshop windows with iron glazing bars, all enhanced by block stucco scrolls on consoles. The two left-hand bays are more elaborately detailed.
On the ground floor, a modern goods entrance has replaced one of the windows, but the doorway still showcases a richly modelled architrave with a rounded head, complemented by pilaster strips and ornate consoles beneath a deeply moulded archivolt arch with a keystone. The first-floor windows are supported by console brackets beneath sections of entablature that carry moulded cornices, featuring revealed sashes with round-headed marginal glazing. The plain segmental arched windows on the floor above have identical sills to the workshop windows. The building is topped with a moulded dentil eaves cornice, which is flanked by console brackets.
