Description
Two pairs of gate piers, built around 1838 with later restorations, are located at the north-west and south-east ends of Lansdowne Crescent in Royal Leamington Spa. These piers have a brick plinth and core, covered with painted stucco facades. Each pier is square in shape and approximately 2 meters tall. They feature a moulded base and the shaft is decorated with an incised Greek key motif near the top. Each pier is topped with a projecting cornice that has bay-leaf moulding and is surmounted by an urn. These gate piers are a significant feature of the streetscape.
