Description

This is a villa, built around 1838 and later altered, located on Holly Walk (Upper) in Royal Leamington Spa. It is now divided into two dwellings and incorporates the building at No.19 Lansdowne Circus. The villa is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with a painted stucco facade and a Welsh slate roof, and was designed by William Thomas. It features a central hallway plan with a range extending to the rear.

The exterior is two storeys high with three windows on the first floor. It has full-height, canted bays, a plinth, and a moulded first-floor band, centrally featuring an engaged balustrade with fielded panels beneath the windows. The first floor has a central 1/1 sash window, flanked by bays with 1/1 sashes, each having margin-lights to the centres and upper-lights to the sides, all set within tooled reveals. The ground floor features a central entrance with a four-panel door flanked by sidelights, topped with a transom window, all within a porch supported by pilasters and a cornice resting on corbels. The bay windows have 1/1 sashes with margin-lights to the centres and upper-lights to the sides, in tooled reveals, alongside tooled continuous sills. The building is topped with a modillion cornice and a fish-scale roof. Tall end stacks with cornices are present, along with rear stacks.

The left return displays the entrance to No.19 Lansdowne Circus, featuring a flight of steps leading to a part-glazed, four-panel door within round-arched reveals and a pilastered surround, as well as two 1/1 sashes with margin-lights and a 2/2 sash window. The interior has not been inspected.

The villa forms a pair with No.83 Holly Walk (Upper), and together they create a group with Nos 79 and 81, and No.87 Holly Walk (Upper).
