Description

No. 29, Clarendon Street is an early 19th-century villa, with later alterations. The building is constructed of brick with a painted stucco front facade, and has a concealed roof. It is two storeys high, with three windows on the first floor. The plan is based around a central hallway. The ground floor has a plinth and horizontal rustication. A first-floor band sits above, surmounted by Tuscan pilasters at each end and between the windows, along with an architrave, frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The first floor has 1/1 sash windows in plain reveals, with tooled architraves and moulded sills. The ground floor has a central entrance accessed by three roll-edged steps leading to a four-panel door, flanked by sidelights and a fanlight, all within a distyle porch with engaged pilasters, frieze, cornice, and a low parapet. Tripartite windows with 1/1 sashes are present on the ground floor, likewise in plain reveals and with moulded sills. All windows have blind boxes. Tall end stacks topped with cornices are visible. The interior has not been inspected.
