Description
The Mill House is a Grade II listed building located on the west side of Mill Street. It likely dates from the early 17th century and features heavy timber framing with diagonal bracing, jettied at the first floor. The building has a gabled cross wing on the left side, which includes a stone chimney breast on the south wall. The exterior has modern roughcast infilling, along with modern oak frames and casements. The entrance is marked by a "Gothic" arch that contains a fragment of early tracery carved in oak, and there is a facsimile boarded oak door. The roof is covered with old tiles. At the rear, there is a 20th-century extension that is well-designed, featuring brick walls and a roof made of old tiles. All the listed buildings on both sides of Mill Street contribute to the group value of the area.
