Description

The White House is a house dating from around 1800, with later additions and alterations. It features a ground floor made of sandstone ashlar and a first floor of painted brick in Flemish bond, topped with plain tile and Welsh slate roofs.

The building is two storeys high and has two first-floor windows with attics in the gables. There is a two-storey entrance bay set back to the left, an outshut to the right, and a range at the rear. On the first floor, there are two 6/6 sash windows in plain reveals, complete with sills and flat arches that have raised keystones. To the left, there is a recess containing a multi-pane casement window with an elliptical arch.

The ground floor features two rectangular bays, with the central windows being 12/18 sashes flanked by 10-pane fixed lights. Fluted pilasters are positioned between the windows, along with a frieze, cornice, hipped roofs, and sills. The entrance to the left recess includes a part-glazed door with an overlight and a pedimented hood supported by consoles. To the right in the outshut, there is an 8/8 sash window and a board door with an elliptical overlight, and the wall has a stepped gable.

The main range has tall end stacks with cornices. The left gable end features an oval window with glazing bars, while the attics on both the right and left sides have pairs of 6/6 sliding sashes with fanlights. Inside, most ceilings have exposed beams.
