Description

No. 27 Hampton Street is a house dating from 1781, part of a stucco terrace built in the earlier 19th century. The terrace includes Nos. 20 to 27 and has a low-pitched Welsh slated hipped roof, a wide cornice, and basements, extending over two storeys. The front elevation features three first-floor sash windows without glazing bars. The central window has been lengthened to provide access to an ornate cast iron balcony, which includes brackets, masks, a frieze, and railings with an anthemion motif. On the ground floor, there's a 19th-century canted bay on the right, and a sash window without glazing bars on the left. The front door has five panels, a reveal, and a fanlight with rectangular glazing bars. Doric pilasters with incised fret ornament, a frieze, and a cornice flank the door. The terrace forms a cohesive group.
