Description

A pair of houses built around 1824 in Royal Leamington Spa, with later alterations. The houses are constructed of pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco fronts, topped by a Welsh slate roof on the left-hand house and cement tiles on the right. The left-hand property has a gable end facing the street.

The houses are three storeys high, with four windows on the first floor. A basement extends to the right. The first floor has 6/6 sash windows. The second floor features 3/3 sash windows. The ground floor has 6/6 sash windows, with one to the left and two to the right. Each house has an entrance with steps leading to a part-glazed, panelled door, topped with a fanlight (blind on the right), all set within a recessed, round-arched surround. The basement has 8-pane sashes. Tall end and ridge stacks are topped with cornices.

The interior of the houses has not been inspected. Portland Street was laid out between 1823 and 1824.
