Description
17 Gerrard Street is a late 18th century building of three storeys, with a symmetrical three-window brick facade. A two-storey, two-window extension is present on the right-hand side. The openings above the entrance and in the two-storey extension are blocked. The windows are sash windows within cased frames, each with a rusticated flat arch. A blocked-up six-panel door is topped with a decorative fanlight, set within an architrave that is ribbed with a plain keyblock and impost blocks to a semi-circular head. A slender moulded cornice runs along the eaves. The roof is low-pitched and covered with Welsh slates. The building was reportedly built for Charles Perceval, brother of Spencer Perceval, when he was Member of Parliament for Warwick between 1790 and 1796. Numbers 11 to 17 (odd) combine as a group.
