Description

14 Farley Street is a house and shop, now used as a house, built around 1840-1850 with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond and features a Welsh slate roof, designed in the Neo-Tudor style.

The exterior consists of two storeys with two first-floor windows. On the ground floor, there are two entrances with a bay window in between, all covered by a continuous canopied porch supported by carved posts. To the left, there is a pointed-arched door with linen-fold panelling and cusped lights, topped with a shaped overlight that has four cusped lights. The spandrels feature carved floral motifs. To the right, a nine-panel door includes six panels with linen-fold panelling and three glazed panels with tracery, framed by a chamfered surround and hoodmould. The window here has a central section with four mullion and transom lights, flanked by two additional lights.

On the first floor, the gable end to the left has a tall projecting window with casements and tracery at the head and sides, set within quoined surrounds, along with a narrow light in the gable. To the right, there are two three-pane casements with decorated traceried surrounds. The gable features ornate bargeboards, and there are two pairs of diamond-shaped side stacks, along with decorative ridge tiles.

Inside, there is an openwell Neo-Tudor staircase.
