Description

Brookland is a house dating from the 18th century, potentially with earlier origins. It is constructed of ironstone ashlar and squared, coursed rubble, with a quoined right gable end and coped gables on kneelers. The roof is slate, with stone bases to the end stacks. The house is two storeys plus an attic and has a two-window front. A central 20th-century glazed door is set within a 20th-century greenhouse. The ground and first floors have 12-pane casement windows with lintels and keyblocks. A 20th-century gabled dormer is located on the left side of the roof. A rear range, built in the early 19th century, is of brick with an ironstone ashlar facade on the left and a coped gable. Inside the 18th-century section are a chamfered spine beam with run-out stops and an open fireplace.
