Description
Magpie House is a house dating from the early 16th century, with later restoration. The left end is made of painted rubblestone, while the front elevation features timber framing with close studding on the ground floor and ornamental herring-bone panelling on the gable-fronted bay. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with stone slates laid in diminishing courses. There are brick ridge stacks, one of which is dated 1814, and a stone end stack on the left. The house has an L-shape and consists of a single storey plus an attic, with a three-window range that includes three bays, one of which is the gable-fronted bay on the left. The entrance is off-centre to the left and has a 20th-century plank door. There are four wood mullioned windows on the ground floor, featuring two, three, and four lights with 20th-century glazing. The attic contains three similar windows with three and four lights. Attached to the right is a 19th-century brick structure that is two storeys high and has a two-window range. The interiors have not been inspected.
