Description

This is a town house, dating from circa 1600, and now used as a surgery. It is timber-framed with plaster infill, and has a tile roof with brick end stacks. The house is two storeys high with an attic, and originally had a two-window front. The upper storey is jettied. There are two early 19th-century entrances in the centre of the front, one blocked and the other with a leaded overlight to a six-panel door. A Tudor-headed entry to the left end has an unglazed overlight, carved spandrels, and a plank door with strap hinges. The ground floor has 19th-century windows, with a 1:3:1-light bay window with transom and leaded glazing to the left, and a canted bay window with leaded upper lights and frieze to the right. The first floor has three-light casement windows, with smaller two-light windows on either side; these are likely original. The attic has three-light windows in the gables, all with leaded glazing. A good late 19th-century rainwater head is present. The interior contains some chamfered beams. The building was formerly divided into two houses. A large 20th-century rear wing has been added.
