Description

Woodfield is a building that consists of two houses now combined into one. It dates back to the 17th century, with restorations and additions made in the 20th century. The structure is built of narrowly coursed limestone rubble, featuring ironstone ashlar dressings and some brickwork. It has a steeply pitched old tile roof with two brick cross-axial stacks.

The building has a three-unit plan that was extended to a four-unit plan by a 20th-century bay added to the right end. It stands two storeys plus an attic and has a five-window range. A top cogged brick cornice runs along the top. The entrance is located to the left of the centre and features a single-chamfered opening leading to a four-panel door, with two of the panels being flush.

The windows are recessed-chamfered mullioned types: the ground floor has a group of three two-light windows in the centre, with the right window being in the former entrance, along with end four-light windows. The addition includes a three-light window, while the first floor has three-light windows, most of which are fitted with lead cames and crown glass, and have wrought-iron casement fasteners. There are two gabled roof dormers with two-light leaded casements. The right gable end, added in the 20th century, is made of brick and features a window on each floor as well as a loading door to the attic.

At the rear, there is a continuous lean-to outshut under the mullioned windows, and the addition to the left end is made of brick. The interior has not been inspected.
