Description
The Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and brick infill, topped with a thatch roof and featuring a brick end stack. Originally designed as a one-unit plan, it was extended by one unit in the 20th century. The building has one storey plus an attic and displays a two-window range of 20th-century two- and three-light casements, with those in the attic set in eyebrow dormers. There is a door located in the 20th-century range to the right. Inside, the cottage features a large spine beam and joists that have stepped stops. There is also an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer, and the original roof truss and purlins are visible.
