Description

Devon House is a late 16th-century house, now divided into three cottages, situated on Church Road in Long Itchington. The house is timber-framed with herringbone struts and brick infill, standing on a rendered plinth. It has a plain-tile roof with a brick ridge and end stacks. The original design comprised a central range with cross wings, all with jettied first floors and jettied gables. The front has a three-window range; the left and right windows are 20th-century casements, while the central windows are 19th-century three-light casements. A 20th-century door is situated in the original opening to the centre right, with two further 20th-century doors. Inside No. 2, there is a large open fireplace with a moulded cornice, along with ovolo- and hollow-moulded cross beams. It also retains an original spiral staircase rising to the first floor, with a 16th-century Tudor-arched doorway at the base of the stairs. No. 1 contains a spine beam to the ground floor.
