Description
Yew Tree Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with its exterior rebuilt in the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick in Flemish bond and features a storey band along with a dentilled and nogged offset brick eaves cornice. The roof, added in the 20th century, is tiled and hipped to the right, topped with a brick ridge stack. The building has an L-shaped plan and is two stories high with a two-window range that includes 20th-century three-light casements. There are French doors on the ground floor to the left, and the windows and doors are adorned with segmental brick arches. A long range to the right has additional 20th-century casements and an 18th-century six-panelled door.
Inside, the farmhouse features large chamfered spine beams with stepped stops, two open fireplaces that have been partially rebuilt, and timber-framed partitions on both the ground and first floors, with one beam inscribed with the date '16?1', possibly reused. There is a part-rebuilt turned baluster staircase, along with a spiral staircase that rises from the first floor to the attic. A 17th-century plank door and visible 17th-century roof trusses and purlins can also be found. The ground floor is stone-flagged.
