Description
Rowney's Farmhouse is a house dated 1664, with early 19th-century extensions. It is built of fine squared, coursed rubble with an ashlar end stack and features stone slate and tile roofs. The building has two storeys plus an attic and a three-window range, following a two-unit plan.
The central entrance has a 20th-century door. To the left, there is a four-light mullioned window with a king mullion, and to the right, a 20th-century three-light casement window. On the first floor, there is a range of three three-light mullioned windows. Above these, on the left and right, are small 17th-century stone gables, each with a two-light mullioned window. All the mullioned windows have hood moulds with label stops.
Above the door, there is a moulded datestone inscribed 'JOHN/ROWNEY/1664'. To the left gable end, there is another two-light mullioned window with a hood mould and a lead 'Britannia' firemark. Attached to the right is a two-storey, early 19th-century stone range, and there is another early 19th-century stone range to the rear, which is now the front. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
