Description
This outbuilding, located approximately 4 meters southeast of Harwoods House, is likely a former stable that was later converted into a forge. It dates from the late 18th century and was probably converted in the mid-19th century. The structure is built of red brick in Flemish bond with a dog tooth cornice. The old tiled roof features gable parapets with terracotta copings and has a brick stack at the left end. The building is one storey with an attic and consists of two bays. It has a plank door and a blocked window beneath a tarred wood lintel. The right side of the building shows remnants of a two-light casement window and a blocked hayloft door. Inside, there is a large brick hearth and a trenched purlin roof. This outbuilding is included for its group value with Harwoods House.
