Description
Idlicote House dovecote is an 18th century structure with earlier elements and later alterations and additions. It is built of limestone laid in regular courses, with sandstone quoins. The dovecote features a pyramidal slated roof topped with a ball finial and a weather-vane, set behind an embattled parapet. The building has three stages and includes a wooden door with a four-centred stone surround. It showcases remodelled Gothic details such as cruciform arrow slits, an ogee leaded window, and a stone mullioned and transomed window. A flat band marks the second stage, and it stands on an ironstone plinth. It is believed that the dovecote was brought from Kenilworth Abbey or Castle and re-erected in Idlicote.
