Description

Honington House and the attached barn are a house and barn complex dating from the late 17th century, with later alterations. The house is constructed of coursed squared limestone rubble, with brick and limestone at the rear and brick on the left end. It features a steeply pitched thatched roof and a brick ridge stack. The building is a single storey plus attic, with a two-window range and a two-unit plan that includes rear extensions. There are two entrances, each with plank doors framed in moulded wood. The windows have continuous wood lintels and consist of two 3-light wood mullioned windows with opening lights, lead cames, and wrought-iron casement fasteners. The house also has two swept dormers with wood casements and opening lights, along with lead cames. Inside, there is a wooden winder staircase, a plank door, and remodelled inglenooks. The barn, dating from the 18th century, is clad in vertical and horizontal weatherboard and has a steeply pitched thatched roof. Its interior has been remodelled, with a first floor now serving as a bedroom and the ground floor functioning as a studio.
