Description
This group of farm buildings, dating from around 1850, is located approximately 30 metres west of Pittern Hill Farmhouse in Kineton. Built for the Compton Verney Estate, the structures are made of coursed rubble with white brick and ashlar dressings, topped with a slate roof featuring two ventilation hoods with louvred sides. The buildings form four two-storey ranges around a central covered yard, showcasing a chamfered ashlar plinth, brick quoins, and ashlar-coped gables with kneelers.
The south range consists of two storeys and three bays, featuring a very large segmental-headed entrance with paired plank doors and flanking lancets. The east range has thirteen bays, with a three-bay gabled centre that includes a plank door and flanking casements. To the left, there are two stable doors followed by paired doors, another stable door, and a half-louvred window at the end. To the right, there are two stable doors, a large carriage entrance, another stable door, and a casement at the end.
The north range is a single-storey, five-bay lean-to cart shed with a stable and boiler house at the left end. The west range features a gabled centre with a plank door, a flight of stone steps to the right, a casement, and a pair of large sliding plank doors on iron top runners at the end. To the left, there are two half-louvred windows, a 20th-century entrance with flanking lights, a plank door, and a casement at the end. The loft has a central entrance with a plank door and a lancet above, along with two loft entrances to the left.
Inside, the buildings remain virtually unaltered, featuring a two-storey covered crewyard, separate pens, and storage rooms, with hay lofts above.
