Description
The Red Lion Public House is a public house dating from the 16th century, with a 17th-century wing and 19th-century encasing. It features a close-studded timber frame with plastered infill, a square-framed 17th-century wing, and painted brick casing and additions. The building has old tile roofs with brick end and lateral stacks and a complex plan consisting of two units plus a double-gabled cross wing, which has been extended and altered in the 19th century.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a three-window range, with 19th-century pierced bargeboards. The windows include renewed 20th-century casements, a bay window, and a centre-hung sash with glazing bars on both the ground and first floors. There is a top modillioned brick cornice above the 19th-century single-storey extension to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
