Description

This building in Claverdon is a house, now divided into two separate dwellings. It dates back to the 17th century, with significant alterations, restorations, and an addition constructed in the mid-19th century. The building is predominantly timber-framed with reddish-brown brick infill, painted on the right-hand side, set upon a stone plinth, and topped with a renewed tile roof. It follows a three-unit plan, arranged in a 1:2 configuration.

Externally, the building is single-storey with attics, featuring a two-window front. A chamfered plinth is visible. The off-centre entrance on the left is accessed via a gabled rustic porch with lattice-work balustrade, bargeboards, and a finial, and it incorporates seating. A further entrance, with a plank door, is situated on the left return. Casement windows are present throughout. The gabled roof is topped with two attic dormers, both adorned with decorative bargeboards and finials. A renewed diamond-shaped stack is located at the left end, a stepped ridge stack is present, and a further pair of diamond stacks are visible on the rear range.

Internally, the ground floor features chamfered beams. To the right is an inglenook fireplace with a bressumer beam.

The property forms a group with the Church of St Michael and All Angels.
