Description

A terrace of three houses, now shops, was constructed around 1796. The buildings are of brick with buff headers, largely painted, and have a tile roof with brick end stacks and a central, cross-axial stack. The terrace is three storeys high with a symmetrical five-window front. A top modillioned brick cornice with a central gablet is present. The shop fronts were added in the late 19th or early 20th century and subsequently altered. Number 9 features a timber entablature above small-paned windows, one of which is bowed, and a front door. Number 10 has canted bay windows flanking the entrance, all under an entablature. The first floor has segmental-headed windows containing 12-pane sashes. A central, canted oriel has a hipped lead roof and cornice, with 8:16:8-pane horned sashes. The second floor has windows with 6-pane sashes, and the central Diocletian window contains a 6-pane sash. The rear of the terrace incorporates wings with stacks.
