Description

These are a pair of houses located in Shakespeare Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, built between 1836 and 1837 as part of the early 19th-century development of the town's New Town area. The houses are constructed of brick with buff brick headers and stucco dressings, and have a slate roof with brick end stacks. They are built in a Georgian style with a symmetrical three-window facade. A top brick cornice runs along the top of the building. The central entrance is round-headed and has a blind fanlight and a 20th-century plank door, while the other entrance has a 20th-century door. The ground floor features bay windows with cornices over small-paned glazing to number 9, and similar 20th-century glazing to number 10. The first-floor windows have sills and rusticated wedge lintels over 12-pane sashes, though the right-end window has a 20th-century casement.
