Description
No. 21 Windsor Street is a town house that has been converted into a restaurant and dwelling. It dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century and was refaced around 1800. The building features a whitewashed brick facade over timber framing with brick infill and has a tiled roof with a brick stack at one end.
The house has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high. It is topped with a modillioned brick cornice and has end wall posts. The ground floor has a recessed left section that includes a late 20th-century small-paned casement window and a small-paned glazed door. To the right of the centre, there is a segmental-headed entrance with a similar door, and a window at the right end features a late 20th-century three-light small-paned casement, which has replaced an earlier sash window.
On the first floor, there is a hipped dormer with a three-light small-paned casement, and a window to the right has a three-light metal casement. The timber framing is exposed on the right return and rear of the building. There is a large flat-roofed 20th-century addition at the rear, and the left return has been rebuilt in 20th-century brick.
