Description
The Old Forge and attached stable is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with quoins and features a slate roof with 19th-century brick end stacks on stone bases. The building has a two-unit plan and is two stories high, with a two-window range that includes 19th-century two- and three-light casements with wood lintels. To the left, there is a 20th-century glazed door with an old wood lintel. On the right, there are two small 19th-century casements with wood lintels on both the ground and first floors, likely providing light to the staircase. Attached to the left is a one-storey stone stable range with a slate roof and a tip stable door. The interior is reported to have an open fireplace and beams, and it is noted for having a studded partition.
