Description
Dickens Farmhouse and Stable Cottage, along with attached outbuildings, is a mid-18th century farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. The building features later projecting gabled wings and a central range with a parapet. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone, complete with a plinth, quoins, and coped gables. The stone-slate roof has a stone ridge and end stacks. The plan is U-shaped, with two storeys plus an attic. The façade includes a three-window range of 19th-century three-light casements that have stone lintels and keyblocks. In the centre, there is a 19th-century four-panelled door with a fanlight and a semi-circular head, also featuring a keyblock. To the left, there is an 18th-century former cartshed with a hayloft above, supported by timber pillars on stone bases. Another outbuilding to the left has an 18th-century plank door set in a stone lean-to at the front. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
