Description
This listing describes two cottages, dating from the early to mid-18th century, located on the west side of Main Street in Long Compton. They are constructed from squared coursed limestone with quoins on the left side and feature a thatched roof with stone end stacks. The buildings have a three-unit and a two-unit plan, standing one storey plus an attic. The front has a four-window range that includes 19th and 20th-century two-, three-, and four-light casements, all with stone flat arches. There are 20th-century plank doors situated within 20th-century porches on the center-left and center-right.
To the left, there is an 18th-century cottage extension that has been converted into a garage. Inside Old Beams, you will find chamfered spine beams, an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer, and stone flags covering the entire ground floor. The cottage attached to the right also features a chamfered spine beam and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer, although the original spiral staircase has been recently removed.
