Description

Linden House is a house dating to circa 1845. It is constructed of stuccoed brick with ashlar dressings, and has a slate roof punctuated by four brick end stacks featuring fluted shafts. The building is styled in the Tudor Revival fashion and is arranged symmetrically over two storeys with an attic. It has three bays, with the bays emphasised by pilasters and gabled end bays featuring Tudor arches. The central bay includes a first-floor sill course and a parapet with a modillioned cornice. The main entrance is framed by moulded pilasters and an archivolt, surmounted by a 20th-century fanlight with paired half-glazed doors, behind an inner entrance. The windows are fitted with sills, chamfered reveals, and label moulds containing 4-pane sashes, while the central first-floor window has a smaller 2-pane sash. The attic features gabled dormers with paired casements. The side and rear elevations are similarly detailed. The interior, which has not been inspected, is reported to retain original features. Linden House was originally built as part of a development for Bishopton Spa, which was ultimately abandoned.
