Description
A row of five cottages located on Malt Mill Lane, Alcester, likely dating back to the 17th century, although significantly altered and refaced or rebuilt in the early to mid-19th century, with further changes made around 1972 to 1975. The cottages are constructed with a mix of materials, including timber framing with plaster infill and brick facing on both front and rear walls. Number 28 features a decorative brick dentil cornice. The roof is tiled, with brick ridge stacks. The cottages are arranged in an E-plan and have one storey with an attic, featuring dormers and a six-window front. There are five entrances with plank doors, including a passageway leading through to numbers 22 and 26; number 24 has a window alongside its door. Number 28 has 19th-century casement windows with glazing bars, while the remaining windows are more recent 20th-century replacements. Ground floor openings are arched with brick. The passageway contains exposed timber framing on one wall. A brick extension is present to the rear. The interior has not been inspected. This property is of group value.
