Description
Beaumont Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the early 18th century, although it has earlier origins and has undergone later additions and alterations. A bell on the turret is inscribed 'JS 1715'. The building is constructed of reddish brick in Flemish bond with ashlar dressings and features a gabled plain-tile roof, along with a timber cupola topped with a lead roof.
The farmhouse has three storeys and a cellar, with three first-floor windows. The front range is one room deep, with a rear corridor and additional ranges at the back. An ashlar band runs along the exterior. The entrance, located to the right, features an 8-panel, part-glazed door flanked by 6-pane sidelights and topped with a 16-pane overlight beneath a flat arch with a raised keystone. To the left of the entrance is a two-storey canted bay with 6/6 sashes above 2/2 sashes on each floor. The ground and first-floor windows are pairs of 4/4 sashes with horns, with the ground-floor windows being taller. The second floor has three pairs of 2/4 sashes with horns, all set under flat arches with keystones and sills. The building is finished with a dentil eaves cornice, raised gables with copings and kneelers, and has external end and ridge stacks.
Inside, the rear range features beams with roll-moulded chamfers, while those in the front range on the left have ogee stops. The front rooms have cornices and 6-fielded-panel doors, some equipped with HL-hinges. The room to the left at the front includes an inglenook fireplace with a bressumer beam and cupboards on either side of the stack. The attic stairs are fitted with stick balusters. On the first floor, there is a fireplace with a dentil cornice and some plank doors with strap hinges. The rear range contains two 2-panel doors and a cheese room with a gypsum plaster floor, along with ventilation chutes in the end walls.
Beaumont Hill Farmhouse forms a group with the nearby Threshing Barn.
