Description
The Doctor's House is a house dating from the late 18th century, with 19th-century alterations and later additions. It is constructed of reddish brick in Flemish bond, topped with a gabled plain-tile roof and features cast-iron railings.
The house has two storeys and five first-floor windows arranged in a 2:1:2 pattern, with the outer bays projecting forward. There is a flight of seven steps leading to a central six-panel door flanked by glazed side panels, all set within a moulded wood doorcase that includes a fanlight and a 20th-century pedimented hood. The canted bays that project forward contain 6/6 sashes between 4/4 sashes. A moulded brick band runs along the first floor, which has 6/6 sashes in flush wood frames. Cambered brick arches are present throughout the structure. The brick parapet features stone copings and is swept to accommodate the projecting bays. End stacks with cornices are also visible, while the returns and rear facades have 6/6 and 8/8 sashes.
The interior has not been inspected. The railings beside the steps have square-section verticals.
