Description
Tom Hill Cottage is a house dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of reddish-brown brick in stretcher bond and features a gabled Welsh slate roof. The building has a 2-unit plan with an outshut at the rear, which was formerly used as a cart shed and dairy, while the range to the right served as a coal store and former pig shed.
The exterior is 2-storey with a 2-window range. The central entrance features a 4-panel door set in a moulded wood doorcase with a gabled hood above. The windows are casement style with glazing bars throughout; those on the ground floor are set under elliptical arches, while the first-floor windows interrupt a modillion eaves band. The end stacks have renewed cornices.
Inside, the cottage mainly features 4-panel doors and a central staircase.
