Description
New Fields Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-18th century, with later additions from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of brick in Flemish bond with a storey band on the front range, and features sandstone ashlar at the rear. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has brick ridge and end stacks. The building has a T-shaped plan and consists of two storeys and one storey plus attic, with a four-window range of 20th-century casements in the original openings, which have segmental-arched heads. The central entrance features a panelled and glazed door with an overlight above. There are three gabled dormers on the roof. The 18th-century sandstone range at the rear includes 19th and 20th-century three-light casements with flat arches and keyblocks on the ground floor, and wood lintels on the first floor. A flat-arched 18th-century plank door with a keyblock is located at the centre. Inside, the farmhouse is noted for its stop-chamfered spine beams and two large open fireplaces.
