Description

Corner Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, constructed from limestone ashlar and squared, coursed rubble, featuring a coped gable on the left side. The roof, added in the 20th century, is tiled and includes an ashlar end stack with two flues on a moulded plinth, along with a smaller brick end stack. The building has two storeys plus an attic and presents a two-window range with a two-unit plan.

On the ground floor, to the left, there is a three-light mullioned window with a hood mould, and to the right, a single chamfered light. In the center, there is a 20th-century single-light casement. The first floor features two two-light mullioned windows, and there is a 20th-century three-light gabled dormer. The rear of the cottage has additional two- and three-light mullioned windows, while the left gabled end includes a chamfered single light and a smaller light above. A 20th-century wing at the rear contains a door.

Inside, there is an original stone chamfered doorway at the rear of the original house, with a single chamfered light to the left. The interior also boasts a heavily moulded spine beam and an open fireplace in the corner, featuring a moulded timber bressumer that matches the style of the spine beam. A timber and plaster partition rises through two floors, and there is another open fireplace on the first floor with a similarly moulded timber bressumer as found on the ground floor.
