Description

A cottage, now a doctor's surgery, dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the late 20th century. The cottage is built of coursed limestone, featuring a string course. It has a late 20th-century tile roof and 18th and 20th-century brick end stacks. Originally with a 3-unit plan, it was formerly two storeys and had an attic. The front has a three-window range. The entrance on the left has a late 20th-century part-glazed door set under a stone flat arch. A fire window is situated to the left of the entrance. Small, cavetto-moulded stone-mullioned windows are present; two are of two lights, and one on the right is a three-light window. The windows on the first floor have been blocked and replaced with late 20th-century half-dormers above. A lean-to on the left side has an old three-plank door with vent holes, set under a stone lintel with a keystone, and a 20th-century window. The right return side features a projection where a former bread oven was located. A single mullioned attic light is visible. At the rear, there are late 20th-century additions. The interior has not been inspected. Group value context: the building contributes to the character of the area.
